Synoptic - After Effects Hologram

Image
For part of our synoptic project I had to create a hologram for one of our scenes where the agent walks into his office with paper work and the hologram appears from the 3D model made and begins to talk to the agent. Firstly we recorded the greenscreen and I imported it into adobe after effects. Here I used the key light but it produced stuff in the background and even with tweaking to the clip white and clip black, as well as adjusting the green but I still wasn't happy. I decided to do a mask which I then tracked so that nothing was cut off with little movements. Here is some scan lines that I made by importing multiple solid objects and lowering the opacity of each one, I made some different colors from each other. Next I added the scan lines into the hologram and they are random because I used the wiggle control and it makes it random. I then made it so it only effects the hologram from the inside instead of the outside Next I added a wave warp effec...

Kazuma Koda

Image
In conclusion I think that my artist evaluation went well, I broke down each part into sections and think I explained everything I needed too. I also am very proud about my artist remake because I spent alot of time on it and think it is very comparable to the real one. If I had to improve it I would like to of written a bit more and done the grey background for my art piece instead of photo bashing. although I did make everything else apart from the grey background.

Imagined worlds - London animatic

Image
Here is my imagined worlds animatic. After we got the sounds I put them into adobe audition and sony vegas pro 14 to get my sounds. Next I got my Photoshop file and broke it down to separate layers and rendered them as pngs. Then I could drag each layer into my premiere and edit from there. Here is the timeline with most of the project at the back lower down on the timeline. As you can see the background and the buildings are separated but the drone does go lower down on the timeline. This is so the drone can go in front before and behind the building. Here is the effect control for my drone, as you can see as it moves it also gets bigger as the scale also moves. Here is the drone path. This shows the drones route and I could use this to edit as well as key frames. Here is one of my beams for my drone, this was simply made using the rotate and a bit of positioning to move the beam. Here is my clock tower. I edited the hand so it...

Presentation powerpoint - pre production

Image
We had present our pre production in a power point. Here I will break down my part in the presentation by each slide. Here is the VFX pipeline slide, here it shows what we have to do and when in the production of the project, some overlap as they can be started at a certain point but aren't due until the next stage. Here is the asset and art list, this acts as a checklist for each scene showing what the item is, a model, prop or artwork and what shot it is present in here is my first slide on software, here I compare the uses of Maya and mudbox and talk about how both can be used effectively together, for example the arm would be hard to make from scratch on Maya but on mudbox you can get a prebuilt asset and export it to Maya. Here is my next slide on software and here i compared illustrator to photoshop. Here I debated using both for different jobs like photoshop for environment. Next I talked about the benefits of after effects and nuke, they are very ...

Angel Animatic

Image
Here is my angel storyboard revisited as an animatic, here the frames are animated to give a better flow to whats going on. Here is the finished product. I think it went well overall showing my storyboard as an animatic but next time I would like the quality to be a bit better on some clips, this was due to an exporting error compressing some clips, for my next animatic of my imagined worlds I will check carefully to make sure everything renders well. I cannot revisit these clips in premier as I didn't save the premier files which I will make sure to do next time. If I want to make this better I will have to start some of the files from scratch again 1 There is a few differences between a storyboard and a playboard. Storyboards will have different pictures with text to show what will happen, there is also arrows that show the camera movement such as a pan shot. Storyboards are usually used for films while playboards are used for games. In a playboard it is mostly in the ...

Imagined worlds - Sound

Image
Here is my imagined worlds sound task. Firstly we had to record the sounds which we did by holding the mic close to the source of the sound like the road or hallway. First we had to choose sounds for our scene, mine being future London. We made a list of diegetic and non diegetic sounds. 1 Diegetic sound is sound you can see on the screen for example if you see a road with cars driving you can hear the car engines, that is diegetic. Non diegetic sounds are sounds that you dont see in the scene but work with it, for example if you are underwater a sound that would work with the theme like a submarine radar noise. We went out and recorded lots of different sounds. To record these we used a shotgun mic which gave us the sound in high quality and meant that we could record at range for places like the road. We also connected this to a XLR cable which then was connected to our zoom recorder. Finally we plugged some headphones into the zoom recorder. For my scene I used wal...

Imagined worlds - Final composition

Image
Next in our imagined worlds task we had to create a basic composition of our work. For my project out of my thumbnails I choose the futuristic London although I did make some changes as detailed below. Here is my basic composition of London, here is my horizon line to show where to cut off the buildings. On the far right building there is also a feint red circle that would help with the perception too. Next I added more buildings to show more depth and also changed the clock faces on Big Ben to a darker shade as it gave more glow to the clock lights which I will show next. Here is my clock face with the different color background on the tower, as you can see with the dark background the handle and circles are much more vibrant and glow more because the colors are quite the opposite of each other. Next I made the background, I thought that I wanted the scene to be much more vibrant than my thumbnail, so I removed the smoke completely but sti...
