Final Painting

Image
Here is my final painting of the toxic jungle. Next time I would add more texture to the trees and mantis, maybe some spikes or rough skin. I would also make the smoke more detailed.

Gant chart  Here we made a gant chart which is a schedule for us to do our vfx shoot in. Here it displays what action we will do and what date we will do it at Risk assessment Here is our risk assessment where we showed the different hazards and how we have set risk controls to counteract them Shot list Here is our shot list where we showed all the different shots and the camera range.

VFX final project

VFX video 1 - phone For my final project my first scene I had to make was me looking at my phone screen with spotify tracked on. VFX video 2  - phone swipe For my next scene I had to track again then roto scope the thumb so when it touched the phone it swiped it off the screen. VFX video 3 - robot For the final one we had to rotoscope the robot coming behind the building. VFX video 4 - all of the clips together Here is all the clips together. Fixes VFX video 3 - robot Here I fixed the issue with the robot where the rotoscoping showed part of the sky when it was moving. VFX video 4 - all of the clips together Here was all the clips together with the fixed robot, also fixed the blue box appearing when the shot was cut to the final one.

Here we used a fly camera that was used to take a 360 view. This helped with the environment for the image based lighting. This camera take pictures of everything from the view. For the project we had to take multiple shots, we took them in the most convenient way, not in order. We started with shot 6 which was me walking then everyone looking back at a non existent robot and running. The next shots we did was me on my phone looking at the message then shrugging. Then we filmed me swiping my phone. The final scene we shot was me looking at someone run past as i move towards the robot. On the day we had to take a few re shoots, for shot 6 which was the students running away. the day was cold and the floor may of been slippery so we has to be careful when running. We chose an environment that wasn't too hazardous though. We had to re-shoot this scene three times. The first time people fell over so we had to re-shoot, the second time people ran a weird angle from the camera

Robot For our vfx project we had to make a robot on maya. The blue ring is where we rigged the robot so it can be animated easily. We also set the pivot point of body to the centre so when put it onto the full scene the body can roll and rotate fluently with no issue. Premiere To edit the whole scene together we used premiere ,where we then used colour correction because at the time of day we shot the scene it was cold and dark. Here is an example of colour correction in premiere, here on the left is the lumetri scopes which show whats going on in the scene in a wave like form. Phone screen Here we had to make the art on the screen of the phone. We used photoshop on an image we found and made it the exact height of the phone model that we were using, this was mine and we had to edit a shape coming down with text inside to act as a message. This was done using the timeline and keying so it came down. We then rendered this as a png sequence. Phone screen Her

Design a game brainstorm and early ideas

Image
Here is a mind map that I made when I was brainstorming on which game to make a card or fighting. After I decided to make a card game i drew some concept drawings for some of the card types and their evolved cards. I also started to brainstorm some statistics for the cards and ultimate card abilities. Some brainstormed ideas of game rules and the camera angle Here I brainstormed map ideas and 3 different types, swamp , lava and temple.  Here I drew simple ideas for bosses when they show an emotion (win or loss) which was inspired by castle crashers with the range of emotions

EX 7: EX 8: Concept sketches

Image
Here is a range of sketches I did for my toxic jungle image: Final sketch on paper Here is my final sketch for my toxic jungle, this will be scanned then drawn over for my final painting. Mantis Here for the praying mantis I came up with the idea that it would be huge and grabbing two trees to show its dominance compared to the two small people it would be hunting. After drawing this for my final sketch I decided to give the matis huge black pupils to show its presence and vision on the explorers. I gave the right claw blood and also decided to put a claw on the left tree to show strength. I put more detail into the head by adding a crest and added more teeth. Here with these teeth I added some saliva showing the mantis is hungry for prey. Explorers Here was the first sketch I drew of one explorer holding a torch as I wanted to show the humans as lost having little gear. Next sketch I drew was both of the explorers, one with a gas mask and the other with

EX 6: Moodboard

Image
Here is my mood board for the toxic jungle brief, here I chose the main themes for my story board in a few pictures, there will be a large praying mantis holding two trees chasing people down who are holding fire torches and possibly a gas mask.

EX 8: Deformer Animation

Image
For our final task we had to make a 3d animation using the max for maya model which was fully rigged and given to us. We had used this for our 3d work earlier in the unit. We also had to use our exploratory vehicle which was our final project in maya to create this. Storyboard : Here was my story board for the animation, in the first shot it shows the submarine moving along the water, followed by the cockpit opening then with the model crawling out. Next he will stand up and wave before the animation ends.

EX 7: 3D Bouncing ball

This week we made a ball bounce using deformers, this worked very much like our 2d bouncing ball with us using key frames to mark each frame. Here we also used squash and stretch for when the ball hits the plane by using the transform. We could of also done this using deformers.

EX 6: AE Exercise Portfolio

Cloth One of out tasks was to make a plane model fall onto a sphere like a cloth, and we simply did this using deformers and gravity making the plane have lots of subdivision caps so it flops more in any angles. Bowling Here we used gravity which was changed to horizontal from vertical to push the ball towards the bowling pins , we gave the pins no gravity and added deformers that they fall when hit by the ball. Squash and stretch cubes This week we learnt how to squash and stretch cubes by using deformers. This was done by putting deformers on cubes, then using the timeline we keyed the cube so at certain frames it gets deformed. The red cube was squashed and the blue cube was stretched.

EX 5: Rotoscope Animation

For this task we had to do a rotoscope of an activity containing energy. I chose to do a shibe spinning around. Here I had to draw around each frame, with my rotoscope being around 30 frames a second. The video lasts for about 2 seconds Next time to make it better I would add some color to the scarf and background.

Ex 4: 2D Walk cycle

Image
For this task we has to make a 2d walk cycle which was made on adobe animate. We used keys to key each frame. We also used onion skin which meant that we could see past frames to help us get a clear vision on what happened last frame to continue next frame. Here is a template we used showing the 5 stages of a walk and the positions of the left and right leg along with the height of the head and body.

EX 3: 2D Bouncing ball

I made a bouncy ball animation using Adobe Animate. First we inserted a vector line for the the ball to go along. Next we inserted a circle at the peak and bottom of each arch. Next we inserted more frames where we inserted the circle moving and the parts where the ball squashes by stretching the circle. I think this was a good bouncing ball but next time I think id change the vector so I could add more movement for the ball, I would also consider making the ball roll off instead of just stopping. I think it went really well for my first time using Adobe Animate though.

EX 2: Cut-out Animation

For our stop motion animation we had the keyword "EAT". For this we had to cut out each letter. Then we added pins to the E to move the mouth movement up and down to make a mouth movement. A was going to get eaten by E so it was slowly cut away with scissors every few pictures. Then the T ran off the screen when the A was fully eaten. We then got the 215 photos and put them into premier. To improve next time we could make the T move more before it runs away maybe by adding pins to the top and show it being scared.

EX 1: It Moves! - Alive animation

Image
Link - For this task I chose the short animation 'Alive' which was made by Blizzard entertainment who made the game Overwatch which these characters In the animation are from. In the animation It features a agent of an terrorist organisation called Talon called Widowmaker attempting to assassinate Mondatta, the leader of the Shambali, who are robots who abandoned their programming to experience life like humans. Mondatta was there as an icon for robot rights. Tracer, an agent of Overwatch, a organisation of heroes, was there and saw Widowmaker and tried to save the day. In the end Mondatta is assassinated and Widowmaker gets away. The style of this animation is clean and somewhat simple with not enough detail to be over complicated but not too little to be bland and boring. In part of the fight where Widowmaker was lining up the shot for the first time and Tracer comes flying past it plays the animation in slow motion and you can see the shader detail on the costumes as
