EX 7: EX 8: Concept sketches

Here is a range of sketches I did for my toxic jungle image:

Final sketch on paper

Here is my final sketch for my toxic jungle, this will be scanned then drawn over for my final painting.


 Mantis

 Here for the praying mantis I came up with the idea that it would be huge and grabbing two trees to show its dominance compared to the two small people it would be hunting.


After drawing this for my final sketch I decided to give the matis huge black pupils to show its presence and vision on the explorers. I gave the right claw blood and also decided to put a claw on the left tree to show strength. I put more detail into the head by adding a crest and added more teeth. Here with these teeth I added some saliva showing the mantis is hungry for prey.

Explorers

 Here was the first sketch I drew of one explorer holding a torch as I wanted to show the humans as lost having little gear.


Next sketch I drew was both of the explorers, one with a gas mask and the other with goggles. The one with the gas mask is shocked because it has seen the massive presence behind them.


For my final sketch I changed the explorers quite a bit. I added a torch to the left of the gas mask explorers helmet, aswell as added more detail to the chemicals coming out of the mask. I wanted to show more of a toxic environment so I added the toxic sign to the mask and added a gun. For the explorer on the left I added more detail to the hair and goggles, also adding a handkerchief to cover up the mouth from the toxic environment. I added smoke into the distance to show a sense of being lost using the rule of space in a compressed way. I also added plants to the image for exploration and a more jungle vibe

 Here is halfway through my painting showing the trees and bark layers, also I added vines hanging down from the trees and a damage to the eye of the mantis

Baby Driver Story Analysis

Our task this week was to do a story analysis on a movie of our choice. I decided to choose Baby Driver. Firstly we had to talk about the main character and give a brief detail about them and what happens to them in the story. Here I gave a summary of the story and how Baby changes throughout the story. Next we has to talk about the setting so I gave a short description on the modern day Atlanta and talked about how Baby spent his time there. For the second part we has to write about the different stages of the story and how the character develops from each stage. I also gave a description on what happens in the story at that point so you get a little bit of context about what made Baby feel the way he does and then in the next scene how hes changed. End summary: Overall I am pretty happy with my story analysis, I used some storyboard keywords like hook and also I am getting better at Photoshop. Maya coke bottle

This week I made a bottle in Maya starting off with a single cylinder where I gave 5 axis divisions making it more of a pentagon shape. Next I inserted a coke image plane to model off. Next I selected all of the bottom 5 faces and extruded them, then from here I could turn off the feature that keeps the faces together and then increase the offset to separate them. Next I changed from the rough cube model to a more smoothed model by pressing 2 on my keyboard this was go to swap between the views later on when making the bottle . After removing the top I could select edges and extrude, here I could add bends to make it look more like the bottle. For more detail and ways to bend the model I also inserted more edges using the multicut tool which I could then extrude and transform to my liking. Pass, Merit, Distinction

Bobby has a pass because he only used basic terminology and didn't use detail in order to get a merit. He had no spelling errors in the draft or the final thing, but the final thing was just the draft as he didn't edit it at all.  Rosie got a merit because she used generally correct terminology. In her draft she wrote many words wrong such as zombie "zombi" but she fixed these in her final, making her work a merit as well as explaining the nature and purpose. Zainab got a distinction for consistently using subject terminology correctly and also fixing lots of errors in his draft. In his draft he wrote you as "u" and also added a :) face at the end which is very unprofessional. He also went into massive detail to give him this grade. Mind Map
