Imagined worlds - Thumbnails


This week we started our imagined worlds project, during this project we will create a high quality piece of artwork and add sounds to it.

Firstly we start with 4-6 drawn thumbnails for out final piece, here the main idea was to gather ideas of what is a good composition. These may be changed as we progress further on with more detailed drawings.


My first thumbnail was an alleyway with a dark passage, here was a drone flying around the ally with some lit up signs and vents. While I had some vision with this it didn't fit very well with our synoptic project.

Next was futuristic London, this fits well with the synoptic project. all of the buildings have pink windows and Big Ben has a neon clock that lights up around it as well as the hands. There was also smoke in the nighttime covering the buildings.

Next was a drone in a forest, this does also fit with our synoptic because in our script an agent is running in a field where he then gets spotted, the drone could be the one to spot him and further on I could even add the agent in.

Next was the bottom of a watch tower in a grassy field that makes sense with our synoptic project, there will be different shades of grass and the tower entrance would be edited to look better.

Finally was another tower but this time it was the top, I feel like this is a much stronger composition than the previous tower because you can see the top and two drones.

End result:

I am quite happy with two of these quick thumbnails because I feel like there is potential despite them being so simply drawn in these quite drawings. If i could improve I would take more time on each one and do a 6th one

Baby Driver Story Analysis

Our task this week was to do a story analysis on a movie of our choice. I decided to choose Baby Driver. Firstly we had to talk about the main character and give a brief detail about them and what happens to them in the story. Here I gave a summary of the story and how Baby changes throughout the story. Next we has to talk about the setting so I gave a short description on the modern day Atlanta and talked about how Baby spent his time there. For the second part we has to write about the different stages of the story and how the character develops from each stage. I also gave a description on what happens in the story at that point so you get a little bit of context about what made Baby feel the way he does and then in the next scene how hes changed. End summary: Overall I am pretty happy with my story analysis, I used some storyboard keywords like hook and also I am getting better at Photoshop. Maya coke bottle

This week I made a bottle in Maya starting off with a single cylinder where I gave 5 axis divisions making it more of a pentagon shape. Next I inserted a coke image plane to model off. Next I selected all of the bottom 5 faces and extruded them, then from here I could turn off the feature that keeps the faces together and then increase the offset to separate them. Next I changed from the rough cube model to a more smoothed model by pressing 2 on my keyboard this was go to swap between the views later on when making the bottle . After removing the top I could select edges and extrude, here I could add bends to make it look more like the bottle. For more detail and ways to bend the model I also inserted more edges using the multicut tool which I could then extrude and transform to my liking. Pass, Merit, Distinction

Bobby has a pass because he only used basic terminology and didn't use detail in order to get a merit. He had no spelling errors in the draft or the final thing, but the final thing was just the draft as he didn't edit it at all.  Rosie got a merit because she used generally correct terminology. In her draft she wrote many words wrong such as zombie "zombi" but she fixed these in her final, making her work a merit as well as explaining the nature and purpose. Zainab got a distinction for consistently using subject terminology correctly and also fixing lots of errors in his draft. In his draft he wrote you as "u" and also added a :) face at the end which is very unprofessional. He also went into massive detail to give him this grade. Mind Map
