Synoptic Evaluation

For our final step of our synoptic project we have to evaluate how our project went compared to the original and how well we worked as a group. Finally I will discuss what worked well and what we would do different. Our original brief was to have atleast three different 3D models in our project as a whole, we also must have one shot with a moving camera meaning the footage needed to be motion tracked and the last criteria was to do a matte painting shot. For our project we did do three 3D models in total, a watchtower, a drone and a robot arm. One of our first shots was a shot of London with a matte painting background which completes that criteria. The shot with the tower is tracked as it moves while the agent runs so in total we have all the criteria from the original brief. For our synoptic management we did use a website called trello where we could do different tasks for each stage of production and cross them off when finished like a checklist, this ment that we would also

Synoptic - Pass scan

Image
For our synoptic project I did some vfx for the agent scanning in his pass. Firstly I compiled some of the clips together so I had a sequence to work with. Next was a shot of him showing his pass which I zoomed in on the pass to show the custom made one Next I masked out the main video on the silver surface where he will scan the pass and also masked out three cubes to the side to make it more detailed. I made a blue square appear which then fades out causing another to start to fade. Next I added two green squares behind the video layer so they would appear under the mask. I then made them both collide when the pass is scanned down. I also masked the pass frame by frame as it scans over the green to not collide with the other mask, this was then put a layer above so it had priority. Next was some more clips to show the agents journey to the office, we started out with just one shot of the agent going left but decided to cut it just before he ent

Synoptic - After Effects Hologram

Image
For part of our synoptic project I had to create a hologram for one of our scenes where the agent walks into his office with paper work and the hologram appears from the 3D model made and begins to talk to the agent. Firstly we recorded the greenscreen and I imported it into adobe after effects. Here I used the key light but it produced stuff in the background and even with tweaking to the clip white and clip black, as well as adjusting the green but I still wasn't happy. I decided to do a mask which I then tracked so that nothing was cut off with little movements. Here is some scan lines that I made by importing multiple solid objects and lowering the opacity of each one, I made some different colors from each other. Next I added the scan lines into the hologram and they are random because I used the wiggle control and it makes it random. I then made it so it only effects the hologram from the inside instead of the outside Next I added a wave warp effec

In conclusion I think that my artist evaluation went well, I broke down each part into sections and think I explained everything I needed too. I also am very proud about my artist remake because I spent alot of time on it and think it is very comparable to the real one. If I had to improve it I would like to of written a bit more and done the grey background for my art piece instead of photo bashing. although I did make everything else apart from the grey background.
